Can you say that word?

Today on Your Carolina, Laura Blume from SKIRT magazine brought up the dreaded “F” word…. You know, “Feminist”. Now, I don’t use that word when describing myself, but I don’t mind those who do either. I just always felt as though wearing that word was much was like wearing a pair of steel toe boots with a dress. Come to think of it, there are probably times that, that might be appropriate… but as a rule of thumb, I really don’t have a need for that attire.
I also hate “labels”. I believe what I believe (100%), but do not necessarily have to be a “denomination”… just a believer. Again, I hold no ill toward those who do.
I VOTE… I do not vote for parties; I vote for people and issues. So perhaps, it was just the “labeling” that rubbed me the wrong way with that “Feminist” word, I’m not sure?
Still this morning as Laura described it as, not being ‘better’ than… but just being comfortable about… ‘being’. Well, I suddenly thought, that’s not such a bad word. Perhaps that word has just been worn by some of the wrong people, the wrong way.
You know, it’s like when you’re out in public people watching… Inevitably, someone is wearing a tank top that should NOT be wearing it. It doesn’t make me hate the “tank”; it does however, make me never want to mis-use the wearing of it!
(unless of course, you made your tank out of underwear, as in this picture).
Have a happy, SAFE 4th of July holiday and if your going to a pool, lake or ocean…
BE SAFE on the water!!!
See you guys on the show,
Kimberly
