Day 3 and 4: “I get get knocked down…

…but I get up again!” I can’t tell you how many times I heard that song, having a husband who played hockey, but it is what came to mind.

Day 3: Not so good, take a look…
Hot Tea with w/ lemon and a ‘pro-biotic yogurt’ (w/ no strange chemical laden fake-sugars) as I walk out the door to head to the show… I know, sounds like I’m off to a good start, eh?
A double tall NON-fat latte’ (no sugar) at Starbucks once at the show… and it’s all down hill from here!
You see my day got busy, YOU know those, right. It was skip lunch or do a drive through… I skipped. (NOT good, I should have planned ahead and brought something with me) Turns our I didn’t have lunch until 4pm… now that’s an early supper and I was so hungry at that point that “will control” hasn’t a chance.
Once slice of the all-veggie pizza, only I added pepperoni (Uh, oh) and tiramisu (big UH, OH!!!) Now I feel really bad both mentally and physically.
I messed up, hardly anything about that day was good. I definitely had no balanced diet, that’s for sure.
The only good thing I can say is aside from my morning caffeine with coffee and tea, I did learn years ago to drink water! I NEVER order a coke or pepsi… I have always had the thought that I love food more and I’m not wasting calories on ‘drinks’… then maybe once a week I can have a dessert.
It’s a warped way of thinking, but it works for me.
Day 4: A bit better…
> Hot tea with local honey
> Short NON-fat latte’ w/ NO sugar (btw, you DO acquire a taste for it, just stick to it!)
> I small helping of a Vegan pasta dish from Earth Fare (not a life style for me, the “vegan thing” just a choice for the day)
> 17 oz. of Coconut water (I love this stuff!)
(I did have water through the day, but could do better)
> Dinner, we went out… uh-oh… I had a baked eggplant and cheese dish, but filled up on the eggplant and skipped the pasta. A glass of wine and yes a bit of Crème’ Brule.
OK, one of these days when Phil and Amy are in, we’ll ask them about “How to order, while out to eat”.
That’s it guys. NOT PERFECT, but the food log is at least allowing me to SEE. Seeing makes me want to do better.
How’s it going for you?

kd… looks like I skipped writing it on day 4, but this past week my breakfast has been Yogurt.
That’s not to say that that’s enough, for me personally it is somedays. Would a nutritionist say that… hmm, maybe not.
I also just bought some of that “Ezekiel” brand spouted wheat cereal. (A lot like grape nuts, but hopefully better for you) I just tried that this weekend (blog to come).
I also often grab a “spelt” toast with peanut butter and local honey on it. (check out spelt bread… I just found it a couple of years ago and LOVE it)
As for the coffee and tea with no sugar… it took a while, but you do aquire a taste for it. There is also honey and have you tried “Stevia” (a sugar from plants, not mixed in a lab with words you can’t pronounce)... but you know, I’m not too far out there. I will have things with sugar in them, just in moderation. It builds up quickly though, eh?

I don’t see where you eat breakfast many mornings?? I have always heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I know if I don’t have breakfast I can’t start the day off right and then I am starved by lunch time. You should be proud of drinking coffee without sugar…that’s the hardest thing for me. Keep it going.
