Glamour of Local TV

The makeup people are not here. They must be late. The hair stylist is not in the dressing rooms. She must have gotten lost. The limos for the anchors did not show up. They must be in the shop. Yeah, right!
With wires snaking across our studio things are not always as they appear on the television screen. Working on local TV is not glamorous; it is hard work with few perks. The people who bring you our show each day do it because they have a passion for it.
There are tougher jobs than ours, and I really do not mean to complain. But you learn quickly that the perks do not come in the form of star treatment. They come from working with people who challenge and inspire you, who make you laugh, and who make you want to come to work, even without the limo ride.
