My house is a pig sty now!

This little piggy went to… Kimberly’s house. Guinea pig would be more accurate… BUT WAIT, I know what your thinking. (Kimberly went to see “G-Force” and ran right out and got one)… BUT WAIT, there’s so much more to that story.

YES- I took my kids to the movie, but this was not the first time we thought, considered or tested this idea.
Pets can be gotten so very easily and taking care of them can be so much work. Their cute faces and fluffy fur tend to make people forget about all the poop, dirt, food, bathes, poop, clippings, itching, poop, collars, cage liners, poop, vet visits, walkings, brushing, potty training, allergies, spaying, poop and Oh crud… where are they going when we’re on vacation!!!!!!!

You see where I’m going, eh?

This subject came up a year ago and I had one as a child, so I KNEW the cage cleaning work involved… I said, “I’ll think about it.” Yes, that simple reply in parent-talk means… “maybe you’ll forget this faze your going through”.

Six months later, my son gets to take ‘Coco’ home for a visit. Coco is not a foreign exchange student coming for a slumber party, but rather the classroom GUINEA PIG! Our week with ‘Coco’ was marvelous, and a grand idea of that teacher to show that it is WORK and to share with kids who may not have the opportunity to have a Coco of their own. “BUT WAIT” I told my kids, that was just a week. After a full month of “Please…please”, “I’ll do this” and “I promise that…” and “I will never do this…” and “…always do that”- I responded, “I’ll think about it”.

Then Hollywood decides to make a movie about the little buggers! Three months of promos and a few movie trailers later, we bought our over priced popcorn and drinks and saw the movie of how our government uses a team of undercover Guinea Pigs to save the country. I know, I wondered it too… “Are these guinea pigs running our economy?” OK, back on track- it was a cute movie, but we didn’t leave the theater headed for Pet Smart.

We have discussed for a year, as to whether we should adopt a couple of small furry family members to be a part of our family for the next 7 or so years. This weekend we did! They are ‘Chai’ and ‘Squeekers’ (kids named them on their own). Chai is a long haired, hippy pig and Squeekers is just a baby who’s not filled out enough to be called a pig of any sort.
It has been a nice weekend getting to know them, but if your family has “G-force Fever”…
JUST WAIT! Wait and make sure it’s right for you (and don’t forget the poop, lol).

Here’s a good video to start with, but read and google up…
