Oh… I worked when I was at the beach!

Well, here I am back from vacation… still doing laundry and going through the bills that stacked up while I was gone. I mentioned this morning that while at the coast of South Carolina, I did get into sand castle building. I’ll have to say, I might have started it… with a dinky little “stone castle” that we actually covered in shells. I thought this would take care of the ‘castle building duties’ that accompany parenthood.
That is until a gentleman down the beach decided to build something large enough for a building permit! OK, that’s when the ‘competition’ began… I called in the troops (my husband and kids) and we began to build.
My son is on an Indiana Jones kick right now, so our castle was an ‘Indiana Jones Temple of Doom’. Then the family next to us jumped into the ‘large castle’ making… and before you knew it there were about 5 of us building away, one guy last week carved out about a 6 foot Hammer Head Shark!
I did manage to capture a few pictures of our “Temple of Doom”. It stood about 3 ½ to 4 feet tall and it’s “mote” was probably a good 4 foot square. Though we carved out the ‘snake and scull’ parts… stacking up a pyramid is a bit more stable (and easy) than the more traditional and fragile “castle”. I’d love to hear your stories or see your pictures…
Kimberly
