“Poison Ivy !”

I don’t know if the rest of you have gotten out in the yard yet this season, but after all that rain this past sunny, Sunday… I did!
I love even the tough task of “clearing” an area. I find that cutting back brush and pulling weeds can be rather therapeutic. All the stress of the week… any nasty attitude that was growing or traffic jam can be plucked from your memory with one good, dirty gardening session.
Here is the trouble: my therapy has come back to bite me… or ‘poison’ me, if you would. As an adolescent, I scoffed at “Poison Ivy”. I could run through it, touch it, pull it and… NOTHING.
And so my brazen pulling of weeds Sunday, no matter what that weeds name may be has resulted in one of two things:
Either my “Free Pass from Poison Ivy” coupon with God has expired? (which many doctors will tell you as an adult happens)
Or maybe, on that beautiful, “day of Rest” I just got what I asked for, for NOT resting.
Either way, the result is the same… Poison Ivy, oak, sumac… what ever you want to call it, is all up and down my arm!!!
Feel free to pass along the remedies that have worked for you and thank you to those who already e-mailed after mentioning it on the show!

Kelly, thank you!
Anyone who wants a chuckle out there should “google” remodies for Poison Ivy. Preparation H, is actually one that I could understand. Do you know one site (and don’t do this!)... said to put bleach on it!? WHAT???
Though in a monent of itching and weakness, I confess I thought about it.
Thanks Kelly, keep in touch!

I know this sounds crazy, but it works, try Prepartation H creme! Yes, you know, the hemerroidial creme! It really helps to eleveate the itching and swelling and reddness! I have a 5 year-old little girl who is a tree climber and has very sensitive skin and came into contact with it. Believe me, at 1 o’clock in the morning you are ready to try anything to get back to sleep! Anyway, long story short, it worked and the next day, it started to look even better. Hope it helps you out.
