Remembering the things my father said

I hope you still have your dad. Be sure you see him or call him on Sun. You know it will be Fathers Day.
Things I remember my dad saying….. (He was Jack Roper also).......“Son, just do the best you can, that’s all I can ask.”
“Son, don’t do as I do, do as I say do.”, “Son, be sure and call your mother.”, Son,when you’re grown, always refer to adult ladies as girls and refer to girls as ladies.” When he’d hit a bad shot on the golf course, he’d remind me that it was the fellowship that counts most. We kissed and said we loved each other everyday day I was with him until he died at the age of 78, some 6 years ago. My dad and mother, Miss Helen, were married for 57 years. He was a solid guy, you could count on what he said and take it to the bank.
Happy Fathers Day to all you dads, God Bless,
Jack

I have so many fond memories Jack of your parents coming to visit us at the station in the “old days.” They were always my favorite visitors. You were blessed with wonderful parents who lit up a room, and made the world a more wonderful place. No wonder you turned out to be such a great guy!!

My dad died on August 27,1991. He was 68 years young. He and my Mom were 4 years away from celebrating 50 years of marriage. He saw only 1 of his 6 grands graduate from high school, he never got to see his 2 Great Grandsons (my Grands). I know that had he lived, his quality of life would not have let him do all the things he enjoyed doing.
I miss him every day.
