Stop! Thief!

All in the news today was the fact that Mr. “Life-Lock”… i.e., Mr. “Here’s my social security number in my ads guy”, did indeed, get his identity stolen.
That must be why my stolen debit card number didn’t receive top attention, they were busy with him!
Yesterday, while checking my account, I realized a horrible thing… I was being robbed!
Sitting right atop my “pending transactions” was a charge for nearly $500!!! (I still have not regained my breath from that punch in the stomach.)
I immediately called my bank… no luck. You read that right, NO luck.
You see, as long it is in the “pending” column, they can’t or won’t do anything. I am telling them it’s fraudulent, but they can’t stop the thief!
Now, I know, some of you may work at banks and chuckle at my quandary of this; however, to the rest of us ‘regular Joe’s’, it is insane!
If I called an officer and said, “someone has broken into my home”… you would be appalled if they responded,
“Call us back when they take something but don’t bother calling until they’ve left your house for a few days… until then just let ‘um wonder around in there, grabbing what they want”.
And so I sit… waiting to be robbed, so they can fill out paperwork about the thief I’m currently looking at… odd, isn’t it?
Please let me know if you’ve had anything like this happen to you and if you have ANY advice to offer me… I called my bank, but they’re fresh out!
(And NO… I will not disclose which bank I bank at… I’m nicer than that!)
See you on the show,
Kimberly
