This beats a matchbox collection…

Today on the show, we met George Francis, a guy from Powdersville, SC who collects famous cars…
He has built a “General Lee” and a “Kit”… while some guys hold on to their matchbox collection, George is buildin’ um “life size”!
Below is a message from George about the condition, before the hard work of restoring started:

“These are pictures, Pre-General Lee, sent to me by the former owner of the car in California. I found this car for sale on the Internet back in July 1997. The car was for sale “AS IS”, and let me tell you…this is “AS IS” as “AS IS” can get! But everything was there that I needed. The car had decent interior, a straight body, no engine, and four wheels….did I say everything? THE REST WAS MISSING! But from day one, I had a picture in mind of what I wanted the car to be, and I started from there. As long as the other stuff aforementioned above was there, the rest could be fixed. So, after many emails and long distance conversations on the phone, I purchased the car and had it brought over to South Carolina on a car carrier transport.”

I recently watched an episode of “My Big Redneck Wedding” and the bride & groom left in a General Lee while being chased by the bride’s father in Roscoe’s police car.
