“Toast to this…”

Well good day… it’s Friday!
We had an ‘angler’ on with the BASSMASTER CHAMPIONSHIP (that’s a ‘fisherman’ for the rest of us). That was great fun and I hope that we all find time to fish this week end…. though for the rest of us, we have no chance at half a million dollars like these guys.
It will be my wedding anniversary this Sunday… that was my best catch! We’re trying to decide where to go and eat. There are so many good places in our area; you’ll have to let me know your favorite.
I am still reading “The Pleasure was Mine” by local author, Tommy Hays. I am not one to tell people to read a lot of books. I have two kids in school and soccer… a busy job and a house I never can keep clean; however, READ this book. I can’t put it down. It is a lovely, heart wrenching and yet humorous look at a family and a husband in particular dealing with Alzheimer.
Today (Friday) we also had a lady on the show that collects toasters… you are reading it right, TOASTERS… like you put your bread in every morning. She had an Edison Toaster (yes, Thomas), a blue willow toaster (yes, a china toaster) and every kind of toasting contraption in between. She has around 500! And though you may wonder how “toast” or “toasters” could be so entertaining… it truly was! She showed us how back in the 40’s there were children’s toy toasters. Now, we worry about toy safety now days, but this sucker had NO safety to it at all. The whole thing would turn dangerously hot when plugged in; and yet, somehow all those children survived it. I still think we are probably better off with out hot metal objects as toys, eh?
The segment of the show reminded me of the famous comedian Heywood Banks and his song about… TOAST.
I have linked a “you tube” version below and I hope you enjoy the odd humor as much as I do! Yes, the instrument he is playing is a “Two slice toastmaster 3000”… Have a great weekend… see you around town!
