I recently found one of my favorite places to shop… I walked in… and with just the smell of the place, I was right back to my childhood! Did you ever go to a “Feed and Seed” as a child? I did. These guys were so reminiscent of that, BUT they had all the new conveniences too!
Community Lawn and Garden is a place that, “I” may have just discovered; but many have gone to them generation after generation.
Today, on the show, I showed you their BIRD HOUSE CAMERAS… you could see what they are doing INSIDE the bird house and squirrle house.
Put this one on your gift list, for people who think they have it all and for those who love nature!!! I think they were like sixty something dollars. I know who’s getting one as a gift for their birthday this year.
Go to our VIDEO section and watch how good you can see these animals!
Imagine watching this on your computer or television monitor. Hey, who needs National Geographic when you’ve got my friends at Community Lawn and Garden, lol.
Here’s my question to you though… Do you do a garden (whether large or small)?
I grew up around them, and in fact my fingers have turned purple many a time from shelling ‘purple hull peas’, bowl… after bowl… after bowl.
Yes, I will grow what I can this year as well. I keep an herb garden going all the time (no funny jokes here, their all legal and family friendly). I’ll also do tomatoes, squash, zucchini, maybe okra this year… I love that stuff!!! I can eat okra any way you fix it: Fried okra, boiled okra, picked okra, baked okra, etc…(just like bubba gump said, hahaha)
In fact, one of the specialty grocers in our area is selling dehydrated okra chips! CRAZY, I’ll bring some in and show you tomorrow. Think Jack will try it? (btw, they’re great)
So let me know about your garden, or even funny horror stories of TRYING to garden,
and go by and tell my friends at Community Lawn and Garden I said hello (Larens Rd, Gvl 232-5605)
See you guys on the show,
Kimberly

I moved to NC from Las Vegas, NV 2 yrs ago & am relativly new to gardening, but have had great success the past 2 seasons. In Vegas, I grew Bell Peppers & Anaheim chili peppers, but my Husky kept eating them so I had to make sure that they were picked right away. Last year I had my first experience at canning green beans. It went pretty well. We planted okra, but most of it got to big & hard by the time we got out there to pick it. I also don’t know how to cook it other than frying it. I am going to plant green beans, peas, tomatoes, lettace, radishes & cucumbers. I will need a lot of help from my husband this year since I just had my 3rd back surgery the end of Sept. But growing the garden is theraputic & I really enjoy it.
I just did a few raised bed gardens this year… but all is good so far… soon it’ll be time to share.
That is THE BEST thing about growing a garden, you get to share with each other!
I garden every year. It’s the country girl in me.This year I’ve planted corn, crowder peas, okra, green beans, tomatoes, squash, watermelon, cantilope, cayanne peppers, sweet banana peppers, green bell peppers, sweet red bell peppers, sunflowers, marigolds and cosmos.I plant and weed by moon phases and have excellent results.I’m loving it.
Kimberly,if you ever need any tips or advise on the gardening fun, just let me know.
Well since we do live in the city, my husband and I decided to try “patio” gardening. And, can I say WOW?!?!
It really worked. So far we have several fresh herbs thriving and tons of Better Boy tomatoes. YUM! Now if I could just figure out how to grow corn in a Topsy Turvy I’d be set!!!

hey kimberly, i grew up “helping” my grandpa in his garden and I loved it sooo much! He died a few years ago and the plants that he planted before he got suddenly ill and passed, grew so big and beautiful after his death. It was both sad and sweet.I havent been able to bring myself to plant a garden since he died but this year I have decided to do it along with my two young daughters. I hope I can remember all the little hints and tricks Grandpa taught me! We should all really listen when our older relatives speak. They have wisdom and insight that can only come from life experience and struggles. I will let you know how the garden grows. I know Grandpa Henry Case will be looking out for us and hopefully helping our crops grow!
