SSG Cheddar & Jalapeno Cornbread

Ingredients

1 cup flour
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 ¼ cup whole milk
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 fresh jalapeno or 3 tablespoons jarred japs, chopped
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
¾ teaspoon salt
4 tablespoon butter

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Put the butter in a cast iron skillet(you can use any baking dish it just won’t produce the same crust), and melt the
butter in the oven for 10 minutes.
In a medium bowl stir together the flour, cornmeal, baking powder and soda, and salt. Stir in the cheese and jalapeno’s. Take the melted butter and
add it to the flour mixture along with the milk and eggs.
Pour the batter back into the pan and bake for about 20 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
