Kidney disease has no symptoms until it’s too late. Finding out for free if you are at risk for kidney disease could save your life.
The National Kidney Foundation will host a free kidney health screening from 10-2 p.m. on Saturday, November 13. It will be held at the CC. Woodson Community Center located at 210 Bomar Avenue in Spartanburg, SC.
Kidney disease is caused by diabetes and high blood pressure. When a person’s kidneys fail, dialysis or a kidney transplant is not optional, it is necessary for the person to live. You can help avoid dialysis by finding out if you have the early signs of kidney disease.
The screening is free and open to anyone who has diabetes, high blood pressure, people who have a parent, brother or sister with diabetes, high blood pressure or kidney disease and are 18 or older.
Space is limited. To register, visit http://www.KidneyCount.com or call Heather Joy at 800-488-2277.
In Spartanburg County, more than 15,800 people have kidney disease. By attending the free health screening, residents of Spartanburg who are at risk can keep themselves from becoming a statistic.
You can find out more about your Kidney Count by visiting http://www.KidneySC.org or call 800.488.2277.
