The other day I accompanied the productions crew on a commercial shoot at a car dealership. As soon as I arrived my excitement rose because I began to think about buying a new car. My goal, if I have a job, is to buy myself a new car as my college graduation present. My current car is beyond tired and I may have to put her to rest soon so a new car seems like the perfect gift for me! Well, I’ve always been a big dreamer that tends to lack realistic ideas. What car have I been scoping and preparing myself to actually go test drive? The BMW x5! That’s not expensive at all…right?! Now, after a conversation with my mother, I have been advised to become a little more realistic—-not only about the price of my new car, but also the other bills I will be taking on upon graduating. Other bills? What are those? Oooooh, you mean car insurance, rent for an apartment, cell phone, etc—-all of the things I don’t think about because you have been wonderful parents thus far and have taken care of them! Maybe I thought they would continue to handle all of that! I guess not! So my lesson for the week and goal for the next couple of months: BE REALISTIC. Ugh, this whole “21 years old, I’m an adult, see me grow” thing is tougher than I thought. May I go back to being 18 years old and try this again?
