Wednesday's ForecastA taste of spring is rolling in. Expect warmer temperatures...along with some thunder chances.
Breezy southwest winds will drive in some warmer air today, allowing highs in the 60s across the Upstate...and even into some mountain areas. An area of low pressure in the upper atmosphere will also move by. The first effect of this has been seen from some showers that had reached the mountains by late this morning. Another area of showers and thunder may develop to our west this afternoon. This would travel eastward, and the mountains and perhaps the western Upstate would be the most likely to see this...but some storms could wander farther east deeper into the Upstate before the activity fizzles out overnight. There will be a chance for some strong to severe storms, too; again, areas north and west will have a better chance than areas farther south and east.
Thursday should be dry during the day, with even warmer air in place. Highs should reach into the 70s.
A strong cold front pushes through the area early Friday. Ahead of the front, scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible, mainly Thursday night into early Friday. Behind the front, cooler and drier air settles in for the weekend.
Another system could bring shower chances back into the area early next week.
